THE BUILDING AND THE PEOPLE

One of the nicest things about my appartment, is that it's situated in the oldest part of Barcelona. The buildings here date back all the way to the Middle Ages, which gives the neighbourhood a lot of character. And because the Spanish people like their traditions and keeping things as they are, the buildings have barely changed over all these years. No new tiles, no elevator: just as it once was.
But it's not just the building itself that makes this appartment so special, it's the people as well. My room looks out on a little courtyard, just like all the other flats in the building. Therefore, I get to hear and see everything that's going on in their lives. The couple whose dogs are barking all day long, the Americans who like to blast their music for everyone else to enjoy and the French man who starts yelling - at exactly 23.00 - that everyone needs to shut up.
All these noises make it hard to sleep sometimes, but just like the Spanish don't like change, I don't either. At the end of it all, the people give the building even more character than it already has.
