ESCAPING THE CITY
I never thought I would say this, but since I'm now a local (I mean I have been eating a lot of tapas lately) I think I earned the right: even Barcelona gets too much sometimes. And it isn't even that strange. It's the middle of August; there are more tourists than actual citizens and the streets are crowded with Americans on segways. So, that's why my Icelandic roommate and I decided to get away for the day. We took the train to the small and beautiful city of Sitges, just south of Barcelona. It took only 37 minutes (this does not include the other thirthy minutes during which we asked for directions because we weren't sure what train we had to take) and it was well rewarding.
White houses, cobbled streets... It almost reminds you of the old Ibiza city - minus the drunk partygoers. We ate good food, we walked along the beach and we enjoyed the incredible views. The city really has everything you could ask for.
But then, at the end of the day, when we took the train back, and I walked out of the train station, I couldn't help but feel happy to be back. Because really, nothing beats the beautiful mess that is Barcelona.
Ps: my roomie was kind enough to be my model for the day. As you can see, she's amazing at it.
